Getting Your Videos Onto the Web

Online distribution has become an art in itself

It is not enough to make a video, even a great video. You have to know how to get that video in front of the right audience. How you distribute the video often makes the difference between success and failure.

We have an article on this subject in The Nonprofit Times where we explore options for video hosting and distribution.

"YouTube has become synonymous with online video," says Michael Hoffman. "Until recently YouTube offered only mediocre quality video hosting, and limited functionality. Recent improvements include high-quality viewing and widescreen format, and new features enable limited editing, but YouTube is just one of many similar sharing sites on the market."

In general, there are three questions you must ask when choosing a hosting platform:

  1. Will I use this platform just as a host, or as a social network?
  2. Do I care about image quality?
  3. Do I upload to just one site, or many?

There's no doubt that the Nonprofit Technology Conference is one of our favorite events of the year. And just when we thought it couldn't get any better, it's being hosted in the beautiful city of San Francisco on April 26-28, 2009.

Each year we learn tons of new information, meet some of the best and brightest in the nonprofit sector, and create valuable connections and memories. Simply put: you must be there. So register before by tomorrow if you want the best rates!

This year we'll be leading a session called, "You Made a Video, Now What?" We'll be showing attendees how to distribute their videos online, and how to get their material seen by the right people.
